Spaces & Places

After the success of Haddon Tower Behind Closed Doors were invited to produce a project at Friction Art’s CurioCity Shop, Birmingham.

This was a two phased project with the first phase being The Big Draw and the second phase Spaces and Places.

The Big Draw is a national campaign for drawing. Workshops are run all over Britain encouraging ‘drawing for everyone’. Behind Closed Doors ran their workshop at the CurioCity Shop on the theme ‘Buildings in Birmingham’. Behind Closed Doors invited artists Paul Blakemore, Dan Burwood, Jamie Fawkes, Sandra Hall and Ann Walker to work with them on the Big Draw event running a series of drawing based workshops.

Spaces and Place was an exhibition of work by the participants of The Big Draw, as well as new art works made by Behind Closed Doors and the commissioned artists in response to their four week residency in the CurioCity Shop.

The Big Draw and Spaces and Places were funded by The Arts Council England
